'Arfa' keeping warm

Hello folks,

The photo is of our Spanish Galgo and my constant companion. He  was rescued in Spain by Greyhounds in Need, is aged 13 and accompanies me to talks and workshops so I had to include him in my blog. He was suffering from glaucoma on arrival and has coped very well with one eye for almost ten years.  He has a monthly massage from 'hands4hounds'

I recently attended a wonderful machine embroidery course with Louise Gardiner so will post the photographs when I've completed my piece.

I completed another cushion commission as pictured below.
'Lily'

The colours as requested by the customer

'Pixi' - cuff insert detail
machine applique
the customer wanted her other dog, Pixi to feature on the collar insert

Fortunatley the  customer loved the end result.

My bedtime  reading has been 'Journey to Inspired Art Quilting' by Jean Wells.  It's not a 'project book' but is full of assignments to assist with design and technique.  I received 'The Mark Hearld Workbook' for Christmas.  It's a absolute delight - a book to dip into time and time again.

The first few weeks of this year I was attending to sick dogs so work was frequently interrupted and now Open Studios is approaching fast plus another exhibition with the West Norfolk Artists Association next month.

A couple of weeks ago I joined some rag rugging friends for a day so we all worked on our latest projects.  This rug has been progressing while watching the racing from Cheltenham. I get a lot of prodding done while the advertisements are on!  I usually fall asleep watching the television unless I have a rug to do.

A local animal charity 'PACT' opened a shop in my local town of Fakenham so I volunteer there every Tueday.  It's great fun and we are very busy. We get lots of donations from kind people & it's a great source of fabrics for all sorts of textiles.

I'll post some more photos soon

Yvonne

Welcome folks.  This blog will be a random collection of my experiences as a designer/maker; the panic, joy & relief of creating in metal or fabic plus snippets of inspiration, news of exhibitions that inspire plus any other odd jottings that spring to mind.

Please add your own comments (good or otherwise!), suggestions and info on any thing that may interest those of us who love to use our hands and tools whether as professionals or keen amateurs.
